[Music] DC Switch in the previous videos we have discussed the overall view of a solar system briefly in this video we will introduce DC switches employed in solar systems in details what are DC Switchs DC switches are safety devices which disconnect two different parts of the solar system in a specific conditions they also help to increase the safety of the system DC Switch are used in variety of applications such as preventing short-circuit in the solar system preventing the overcurrent in inverters and other sections of the system and enhancing the lifespan and efficiency of the battery [Music] DC Switchs have different types such as DC breakers or rotary switches you may find a variety of these switches in the market here we use a circuit breaker to protect direct current and voltage up to 500 volts DC as you can see it has two positive and negative poles these breakers are rail mounted DC switches which are fixed on a rail in the solar systems installation as you can see there are 2 DC switches employed in our solar system’s installation the left one connects the solar panels to the charge controller while the other one connects the batteries to the solar charge controller output terminals of the battery and the solar panel are plugged to the DC switch by proper connectors the polarity of the DC switch should be noted in connections since wrong and improper wiring will lead to short circuit which might damage the system the polarity of DC Switch connectors are obvious on the switches datasheet and also can be seen in the switches label it is clear that the polarity of DC swhich is different from connections from upside or downside the datasheet of the DC Switch provides useful information about the operations and technical data rated current of DC switch in a solar system should be determined according to the configuration of charge controller battery and a solar panel for example maximum input power of the charge controller determines the rated current of DC switch in other words according to the configuration of your batteries and solar panels you can choose the right capacity DC switch for your application what happens when a DC switch is turned on or off as mentioned before to DC searches are employed in the solar systems installation which one connects the battery to the charge controller while the other one connects the solar panel to the charge controller by pushing the black button on the DC switch battery is connected to the charge controller which turns the charge controller on while the other switch will connect the solar panel to the charge controller and permits the energy flow from solar panel to the charge controller to start the charging process of the battery again it should be noted that the polarity is an important factor in the DC switch installation so make sure to connect the right terminals to your DC switch bus bars are also used in our system bus bars are employed to connect various elements to each other to prevent the confusion in wiring bus bars are suitable to reduce the amount of cables in the solar system’s
installation they are composed of several terminals which are electrically connected to each other so instead of direct wiring bus bars utilize the quality of wiring and power distribution system bus bars are employed in the installation of solar panels to transform the connectors of both positive and negative terminals of the battery to the two distinct connectors which are connected to the charge controller and the inverter there are various types of busbars employed in the industry which you can choose them according to your specific requirement and your equipment in our installation any of the busbars terminals can be considered as the input and hence others are supposed to be the outputs of the bus bar surge protection devices a power surge also called a transient voltage is generally short increase in voltage that’s about a normal level it can be caused for example due to the natural sources such as lighting strikes as well as internal or external equipment devices known as surge protectors or transient voltage surge suppressors can route these transient current to the ground protecting the equipment from damage so SPDs are also crucial elements involved in the production of pv systems details about implementing SPDs will be covered in an other video in next video we will talk about charge controllers [Music]
