Solar panel system optimisation

Solar panel system optimisation

Morning team, we’re putting optimizers on a system on one of the strings on the eastern side of the house this week So just thought I’d let you know why are we doing that. Basically, we’ve got some shading issues on the eastern side of the house And in a standard string configuration if you’ve got 12 panels on two strings Each string can only output or perform as best as the lowest producing panels so if you’ve got a 12 panels in a string and one panel is In partial or full shade and only producing at 50% of its name plate The entire string will then reduce its output. So each of the twelve panels is only performing at the Performance of the lowest panel. So once we put the Tigo optimizers on it It will allow each of those panels to work as individual power generators essentially. So you’re getting Perhaps 50% generation out of one panel and 75 out of the next and 85 out of the next so it just improves the overall generation of your whole system by Optimizing it back to the panel level Rather than the string level and I’ll produce a blog post this week to explain that a little more
